Throughout history, mankind has decorated rocks with symbols and pictograms, each creator imparting their work with a meaning and message specific to their experience, and leaving it for future generations to decipher.
I wanted to not only evoke the presence and spirit of these totems, using the decoration to flow over the surface and add definition to the form, while at the same suggesting a meaning that begs to be questioned, but also give the stone a character and movement evocative of a living being.
